A fund raiser, hosted
by IATSE raised more than $13,000 in support of U.S. Representative
Dennis Kucinich, it was announced by IATSE President Thomas C. Short.
The event, held in the headquarters of Local 80, Motion Picture
Studio Grips, was one fund raiser in a series of many that have
been held in various cities throughout the country with future
events being planned.
Kucinich, a member of the IATSE for over 30 years, is running
for re- election in the Ohio's 10th Congressional District. Kucinich
won his previous re-election bid with 67 percent of the vote,
an increase of eighteen percentage points from his 1996 showing
and the third highest percentage increase of any re-elected incumbent
Member of Congress.
President Short stated, "Congressman Dennis Kucinich is
one of the best friends labor has in any branch of government.
We are honored to show our support to this champion of working
families."
The IATSE is an International Union that represents members employed
in the stage craft, motion picture and television production,
and trade show industries throughout the United States, its Territories
and Canada.
