Philadelphia, Aug. 4 – The IATSE Political Action Committee raised nearly $14,000 at a reception held last night at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center Hotel. The site is the location of the IA’s Mid-Summer General Executive Board Meeting. The host locals are 8, 52, 161, 600, 700, 752, 798, 799, 800, 804, USA 829, and B-29.
Democratic US Senate candidate Congressman Joe Sestak stopped by to address the crowd that included all the national IA officers and local union representatives in attendance at the Board meeting this week. Sestak, who currently represents Pennsylvania’s 7th congressional district, defeated five-term incumbent Senator Arlen Specter in May’s primary and is running against Republican nominee Pat Toomey in the general election this November.
IATSE President Matthew D. Loeb said, “This coming election is going to be critical for all working families. We’re encouraged by the strides the Obama administration has made in health care, employment and digital theft enforcement in the creative industries. The IA PAC is a great way for our rank and file to help those candidates who support these efforts.”
